So, what is du calvados?

Du Calvados is a French apple brandy originating from the Calvados region of Normandy. It is made from a variety of apples, including sweet, tart, and bitter, which are carefully selected, crushed, and fermented into a cider. The cider is then distilled and aged in oak barrels for at least two years, resulting in a smooth and complex spirit with notes of apple, vanilla, and spice. Du Calvados is commonly used in French cuisine to add depth and flavor to dishes such as apple tarts, sauces, and savory meats. Its unique taste and rich history make it a popular ingredient in both traditional and modern recipes.
