So, what is lards?
Lard is a traditional cooking ingredient that has been used for centuries to add richness and flavor to dishes. It's made from rendered pork fat, which is heated until it becomes liquid and then strained to remove any impurities. Lard has a high smoke point, making it ideal for frying and baking, and it adds a savory depth of flavor to everything from pie crusts to fried chicken. While lard fell out of favor in the mid-20th century due to health concerns, modern research has shown that it can be a healthy alternative to other fats when used in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
