So, what is acetoin?
Acetoin is a naturally occurring organic compound that is commonly used as a flavoring agent in food products. It is a yellow to greenish liquid with a sweet, buttery aroma that is often described as resembling popcorn or buttered bread. Acetoin is found in a variety of foods, including cheese, yogurt, and baked goods, and is often used in the production of artificial butter and cream flavors. It is also used as a fragrance in perfumes and cosmetics. Acetoin is generally recognized as safe by the US Food and Drug Administration and has a wide range of applications in the food industry.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
