So, what is acetylated?
Acetylated is a term used to describe a food ingredient that has undergone a process called acetylation, in which an acetyl group is added to a molecule. This process can enhance the physical and chemical properties of the ingredient, such as increasing its solubility, stability, and heat resistance. Acetylation is often used in the food industry to modify the properties of ingredients like starches, proteins, and cellulose, making them more suitable for use in various products like baked goods, sauces, and dressings. Acetylated ingredients are generally considered safe for consumption and are commonly used in processed foods.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
