So, what is almidon?
Almidon, also known as starch, is a versatile food ingredient that is commonly used as a thickening agent in various dishes. It is a white, odorless, tasteless powder that is derived from various plant sources such as corn, potatoes, and wheat. Almidon has a unique ability to absorb water and swell, creating a gel-like consistency that adds texture and body to sauces, soups, and gravies. Apart from its culinary uses, almidon is also used in the manufacturing of paper, textiles, and adhesives. It is a cost-effective and essential ingredient in many food products, making it a staple in both commercial and home kitchens.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
