So, what is aluminium?

Aluminum is a lightweight, ductile, and versatile metal that has many applications in the food industry. It is commonly used as a packaging material for beverages, canned foods, and baked goods due to its excellent barrier properties against moisture, oxygen, and light. Aluminum is also used in cookware and utensils because of its excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to corrosion. However, concerns have been raised about the potential health risks associated with exposure to high levels of aluminum, such as neurotoxicity and cognitive impairment. As a result, some manufacturers have switched to alternative materials for food packaging and cooking.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like aluminium?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
