So, what is ammoniumchloride?
Ammonium chloride is a white crystalline salt with a slightly acidic taste and a distinctive odor. Also known as Sal Ammoniac, this ingredient is commonly used as a food additive, especially in Asian cuisines, where it is used to enhance the flavors of salty and sour dishes. It can also be found in some confectioneries as a flavoring agent for licorice. Ammonium chloride is formed when ammonia is combined with hydrochloric acid and can be naturally found in some volcanic regions. In addition to its culinary uses, ammonium chloride is also used in medicine, cleaning products, and fertilizers.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
