So, what is avec tbhq?
Avec TBHQ is an ingredient commonly found in processed foods and snacks as a preservative to extend their shelf life. TBHQ stands for tertiary butylhydroquinone, a synthetic antioxidant that helps prevent the oxidation of fats and oils. Despite concerns about its safety, TBHQ is generally recognized as safe by the FDA when used in small amounts. However, consuming high levels of TBHQ may cause adverse effects, including nausea, vomiting, and even DNA damage in animal studies. It is always recommended to consume processed foods in moderation and choose fresh, whole foods whenever possible.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
