So, what is beeswax?

Beeswax is a natural wax produced by honeybees in their hives. It is commonly used as a food ingredient due to its unique properties, including its ability to act as a natural preservative and sealant. Beeswax has a sweet and subtle aroma, making it an ideal addition to food products such as candies, chewing gums, and baked goods. Additionally, beeswax is rich in vitamin A and has anti-inflammatory properties, which may offer health benefits when consumed. Its versatility extends beyond the kitchen too, as it is also used in cosmetics and skincare products for its moisturizing and protective qualities.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like beeswax?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
