So, what is beta-caroteno?
Beta-carotene is a naturally occurring red-orange pigment found in many fruits and vegetables, particularly in carrots. It is a carotenoid that functions as an antioxidant and a precursor of vitamin A. The human body converts beta-carotene into vitamin A, which plays an essential role in vision, skin health, and the immune system. Additionally, beta-carotene has been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular disease, due to its powerful antioxidant properties. It is commonly used as a food coloring and nutritional supplement.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
