So, what is boia?
Boia, also known as smoked paprika or pimentón, is a spice made by drying and grinding peppers over oak fires. Originating in Spain, boia has a distinct smoky flavor that sets it apart from regular paprika. Its vibrant red color and mild to medium heat make it a popular ingredient in Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine, where it is used to add depth and complexity to dishes like chorizo sausage, stews, soups, and marinades. Boia is also high in antioxidants and vitamin C, making it a healthy addition to any meal. Use it sparingly for a subtle smoky kick or generously for a bold and flavorful experience.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
