So, what is cannes à sucre?
Cannes à sucre, also known as sugarcane, is a tall perennial grass with thick, fibrous stalks that contain high amounts of sucrose. This tropical plant is primarily grown in regions with warm and humid climates, such as Brazil, India, and Thailand. The stalks are harvested and crushed to extract the juice, which is then boiled to produce raw sugar. Sugarcane is not only a popular sweetener used in various food and beverage products, but it also has potential health benefits due to its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, the fibrous residue from the stalks is often used as a source of renewable energy in some countries.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
