So, what is cera de candelilla?
Cera de candelilla, also known as candelilla wax, is a plant-based wax derived from the leaves of the candelilla shrub native to northern Mexico and southwestern United States. It has a hard, brittle texture, and a light yellow to brownish color. Cera de candelilla is commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products, such as lip balms, lotions, and hair products, as well as in food production as a natural coating for candy and chewing gum. It is a vegan-friendly alternative to beeswax, and is prized for its moisturizing and protective properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
