So, what is česnek?

Česnek is the Czech word for garlic, referring to the edible bulb of the plant Allium sativum. It is an agricultural crop cultivated worldwide for its pungent flavor and aroma. Once harvested from the soil, garlic bulbs are cleaned and dried, and they may be sold whole or processed into granulated powders, dehydrated flakes, purees, or essential oil extracts. It commonly appears on Czech-language ingredient lists for savory food products, including pasta sauces, salad dressings, canned soups, frozen ready meals, savory snack chips, and blended seasonings.

česnek is vegan because it is entirely of plant origin. The cultivation, harvesting, and mechanical processing of garlic do not require or involve any animal ingredients or animal-derived processing aids. Because it is a purely botanical product containing no animal byproducts in any standard form, it is suitable for vegans.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like česnek?

We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
