So, what is chlorine?
Chlorine is a highly reactive chemical element with the symbol Cl and atomic number 17. It is commonly used as a disinfectant in water treatment, swimming pools, and industrial processes. In food production, chlorine is used to sanitize equipment, wash fruits and vegetables, and control bacteria in processing plants. However, excessive use of chlorine in food can result in unpleasant taste and odor, and it can also react with other compounds to form harmful byproducts. Thus, the appropriate use of chlorine in food processing is critical to ensure food safety and quality.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
