So, what is common mallow?
Common mallow, also known as Malva sylvestris, is an edible and medicinal plant that belongs to the Malvaceae family. This herbaceous plant is native to Europe and Asia but has been naturalized in North America. The leaves, flowers, and roots of the common mallow are all edible and have been used in traditional medicine to soothe inflammation and irritation in the digestive and respiratory systems. The leaves and flowers have a slightly sweet taste and can be eaten raw or cooked, while the root can be boiled or roasted to make a coffee substitute. Common mallow is also a popular ornamental plant due to its attractive pink or purple flowers and its ability to grow in a wide range of conditions.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
