So, what is crema?

Crema is a dairy product commonly used in Latin American and Spanish cuisine. It has a consistency similar to sour cream, but with a slightly sweeter and milder flavor. Made from pasteurized cream, crema is versatile and can be used as a topping for tacos, nachos, and quesadillas, or as a substitute for sour cream in recipes. Unlike sour cream, which has a high fat content, crema is lighter and smoother, making it an excellent addition to dishes that require a creamy texture without the heaviness. With its subtle sweetness and tangy notes, crema adds a delicious depth of flavor to any dish.
