So, what is cultured milk?
Cultured milk is a dairy product made by fermenting fresh milk with specific bacteria known as lactic acid bacteria. The fermentation process converts lactose, the naturally occurring sugar in milk, into lactic acid, making the milk tangy and slightly sour in taste. Cultured milk is rich in probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that promote digestive health by supporting the growth of good gut bacteria. This versatile ingredient is commonly used to make yogurt, cheese, buttermilk, sour cream, and kefir, making it a popular choice for cooking, baking, and snacking.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
