So, what is de muscade?
Nutmeg, or "de muscade" in French, is a warm and aromatic spice that is used in both sweet and savory dishes. It is harvested from the seeds of the evergreen nutmeg tree, which is native to the Banda Islands in Indonesia. The spice is known for its distinctive flavor profile, which includes notes of sweetness, bitterness, and spiciness. Nutmeg is often used in baked goods, such as cakes and cookies, as well as in soups, stews, and curries. It can also be grated over warm drinks, such as eggnog or hot chocolate, to add a cozy and comforting flavor.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
