So, what is destrine?
Dextrin is a type of carbohydrate that is commonly used in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer, or binding agent. It is derived from starch and is created by breaking down the long chains of glucose molecules into shorter chains. Dextrin is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of food products, including baked goods, snacks, sauces, and beverages. It is often used as a coating for fried foods to give them a crispy texture or as a filler in processed meats to improve texture and reduce cost. Dextrin is also sometimes used in dietary supplements as a source of soluble fiber.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
