So, what is disulfite disodique?
Disulfite disodique is a food ingredient commonly used as a preservative to prevent spoilage and discoloration in a variety of food products. Also known as sodium metabisulfite, it is a white crystalline powder with a distinctive sulfurous odor. Disulfite disodique works by releasing sulfur dioxide gas, which inhibits the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms that can cause food to spoil. It is frequently used in the production of wine, beer, and other fermented beverages, as well as in processed fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, and baked goods. Although generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, some people may experience allergic reactions to disulfite disodique.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
