So, what is elastane?
Elastane, also known as Spandex or Lycra, is a synthetic fiber used in textiles and clothing to provide elasticity and stretchability. It was first developed in the 1950s and has since become popular in athletic wear and swimwear due to its ability to maintain shape and flexibility even after repeated use and washing. Elastane is made from a blend of polyester and polyurethane, with the amount of elastane added determining the degree of stretch in the final product. While elastane is a valuable addition to clothing, excessive use can lead to issues such as fabric degradation and environmental concerns.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
