So, what is enbär?
Enbär, also known as juniper berries, are a small blue-purple fruit harvested from evergreen trees. The berries have a subtle yet distinct resinous flavor with hints of citrus and pine, making them a popular ingredient in Scandinavian cuisine. They are often used to add complexity to meat dishes, particularly game meats such as venison and elk. Enbär is also used in gin production, providing a key botanical flavor that contributes to the spirit's signature taste. In addition to their culinary uses, enbär has been traditionally used for medicinal purposes such as aiding digestion and reducing inflammation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
