So, what is enzyme?
Enzymes are biological catalysts that accelerate chemical reactions within living organisms. They are proteins that help break down complex molecules into simpler compounds, aiding in the digestion of food, the synthesis of DNA, and other essential biological processes. Enzymes can be derived from plant or animal sources and are commonly used in the food industry to enhance flavors, improve texture, and increase shelf life. Some enzymes are also used in the production of alcoholic beverages and cheese. Enzymes are highly specific and work under specific conditions, such as temperature and pH, making them a crucial ingredient in many food products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
