So, what is eritritol?

Erythritol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that is commonly used as a sugar substitute in various foods and beverages. Unlike regular sugar, erythritol has zero calories and does not raise blood sugar levels, making it a popular choice for those following a low-carb or keto diet. It is also considered tooth-friendly and has a cooling effect in the mouth, similar to mint. Erythritol is derived from plant sources such as corn or birch wood, and has a granular texture that is similar to sugar. It is commonly used in baking, as well as in chewing gum, candies, and beverages.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like eritritol?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
