So, what is essigessenz?
Essigessenz is a concentrated vinegar solution commonly used in German and Austrian cuisines. It's made by fermenting ethanol with acetic acid bacteria, resulting in a clear liquid with at least 25% acidity. This potent ingredient is often used to add a tangy, acidic flavor to dishes or to pickle vegetables. Due to its high acidity, essigessenz should be used sparingly and diluted before consuming. It's a versatile ingredient that can also be used as a cleaning agent due to its antibacterial properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
