So, what is fecula?
Fecula is a starchy, fine powder that is derived from various root vegetables, including potatoes, cassava, and yams. This ingredient is often used as a thickener in cooking and baking, as it can absorb large amounts of liquid and create a smooth texture. Fecula is also a common component in gluten-free and vegan recipes, as it can replace wheat flour and eggs in certain dishes. Due to its neutral flavor, it does not affect the taste of the dishes it is used in, making it a versatile and practical ingredient for a variety of culinary applications.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
