So, what is foelie?
Foelie, also known as mace, is a spice that comes from the outer covering of the nutmeg seed. It has a warm, sweet, and slightly spicy flavor, with hints of cinnamon and cloves. Foelie is commonly used in baking, especially for sweet pastries and cakes. It can also be added to savory dishes, such as stews, soups, and sauces, to give them a unique flavor. Due to its strong aroma and taste, only a small amount of foelie is needed to enhance the flavor of a dish. Foelie is a popular ingredient in Dutch and Indonesian cuisine, and is often used in spice blends such as curry powder and garam masala.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
