So, what is fully hydrogenated vegetable oil?
Fully hydrogenated vegetable oil is a type of oil that has undergone a process called hydrogenation, where hydrogen gas is added to the oil to make it more solid and stable. This process turns the oil into a solid form that is often used in the food industry to improve texture, increase shelf life, and enhance flavor. Unlike partially hydrogenated oils, which contain trans fats that can be harmful to health, fully hydrogenated vegetable oil is free of trans fats. It is commonly found in processed foods such as baked goods, crackers, and snacks, and is often used as a substitute for butter or other solid fats in cooking and baking.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
