So, what is fumarsäure?
Fumaric acid, also known as fumarsäure in German, is a white crystalline powder that occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables. It is widely used in the food industry as a preservative, acidulant, and flavor enhancer. Fumaric acid has a sour, fruity taste and is commonly added to fruit juices, fruit-based desserts, and baked goods to give them a tangy flavor. It is also used in the production of various food additives, such as aspartame and neotame. In addition to its use in food, fumaric acid is also used in the manufacture of plastics, resins, and pharmaceuticals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
