So, what is gehärtetes pflanzenfett?
Gehärtetes Pflanzenfett, also known as hydrogenated vegetable fat, is a processed ingredient commonly used in food production due to its versatility and stability. It is created by adding hydrogen molecules to liquid vegetable oil, turning it into a solid form that can be used as a replacement for butter or other solid fats. The process also gives the fat a longer shelf life and a higher melting point, making it ideal for use in baked goods and confections. However, some studies suggest that consuming too much of this ingredient may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
