So, what is gjær?
Gjær is a traditional Norwegian term for yeast, a single-celled fungus that is a vital ingredient in many types of baked goods and fermented drinks. This microscopic organism converts sugars into carbon dioxide and alcohol, causing dough to rise and giving beer and wine their distinct flavor and effervescence. Gjær is available in both dry and fresh forms and can be used in a variety of recipes, including bread, pizza, bagels, and cinnamon rolls. This versatile ingredient adds depth and complexity to baked goods and beverages, making it an essential component in any baker's pantry.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
