So, what is glicerin?
Glycerin, also known as glycerol, is a colorless, odorless, and viscous liquid that is commonly used in the food industry as a sweetener, preservative, and thickening agent. It is a natural byproduct of the soap-making process and can be derived from animal fats, vegetable oils, or synthetic sources. Glycerin has a sweet taste and is non-toxic, making it a popular ingredient in many food and beverage products. It can also be used as a humectant to help retain moisture in food products, preventing them from drying out. Glycerin is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA and is widely used in food processing and production.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
