So, what is glucose.fructose?
Glucose-fructose, also known as high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), is a sweetener commonly used in processed foods and beverages. It is made by breaking down cornstarch into glucose, a simple sugar, and then converting some of that glucose into fructose, another simple sugar. This process creates a syrup that is sweeter than traditional table sugar and also less expensive to produce. While HFCS is often criticized for its potential health risks, it remains a popular ingredient in the food industry due to its affordability and versatility in food production.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
