So, what is grano de maíz?
"Grano de maíz" is the Spanish term for corn kernels. These tiny, golden grains are a staple food ingredient in many Latin American cuisines and are used to make everything from tortillas to tamales. Corn kernels are packed with nutrients such as fiber, protein, and vitamins A, B, and C. They're also versatile, making them ideal for baking, frying, or boiling. Whether used whole or ground into flour, "grano de maíz" adds a sweet, nutty flavor and satisfying texture to a wide variety of dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
