So, what is guargumi?

Guar gum, also known as guargumi, is a natural food thickener and stabilizer derived from the endosperm of guar beans. It is widely used in the food industry to improve texture, viscosity, and shelf life of various products like ice cream, sauces, and baked goods. In addition, guar gum is a popular ingredient in gluten-free recipes as it mimics the binding properties of gluten. Furthermore, this plant-based additive has several health benefits, including reducing blood sugar levels and improving digestive health. Despite being generally safe, excessive consumption of guar gum may cause gastrointestinal discomfort.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like guargumi?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
