So, what is hemicellulase?

Hemicellulase is an enzyme that plays an essential role in the breakdown of hemicellulose, a complex carbohydrate found in plant cell walls. This enzyme catalyzes the cleavage of the glycosidic bonds that hold hemicellulose molecules together, resulting in the release of simple sugars which can be used as a source of energy by microorganisms. Hemicellulase is commonly used in industrial applications such as the production of biofuels and paper pulp, as well as in food processing to enhance the texture and flavor of baked goods and fruit juices.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like hemicellulase?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
