So, what is huile hydrogénée?
Huile hydrogénée is a type of oil that has undergone a hydrogenation process, which changes its physical properties and makes it more stable at room temperature. This process involves adding hydrogen atoms to the oil, which increases its melting point and shelf life. However, hydrogenated oils are often associated with negative health effects due to their high levels of trans fats. As a result, many health-conscious consumers seek out alternative oils such as coconut, olive, or avocado oil. Despite this, huile hydrogénée is still commonly used in processed foods and baked goods due to its functional properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
