So, what is huile vegétale hydrogénée?
Huile végétale hydrogénée, or hydrogenated vegetable oil, is a type of oil that has been chemically altered through a process called hydrogenation. This process involves adding hydrogen to liquid vegetable oil, which transforms it into a solid form. Hydrogenation can increase the shelf life and stability of the oil, making it useful for food processing and cooking. However, this process also creates trans fats, which have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. As a result, many health experts recommend limiting consumption of foods that contain hydrogenated vegetable oil.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
