So, what is hydroxyethyl cellulose?
Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a food ingredient commonly used as a thickening agent, emulsifier, and stabilizer. It is made by chemically modifying natural cellulose found in plants. Hydroxyethyl cellulose has the ability to dissolve in both cold and hot water, making it versatile for use in various food applications. It is often added to foods such as sauces, dressings, soups, and ice cream to improve their texture and consistency. Additionally, it is considered safe for consumption and is approved by regulatory bodies such as the FDA and EFSA.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
