So, what is illipe?

Illipe is a rare and exotic ingredient that comes from the seeds of the Shorea stenoptera tree, which is native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia. Also known as "butter nut," it has a rich, creamy texture and a high melting point, making it an excellent substitute for cocoa butter in chocolate production. Illipe is also used in skincare products for its emollient and moisturizing properties. It contains essential fatty acids and antioxidants, making it a healthy addition to your diet. This unique ingredient has a subtle nutty flavor and can be used in a variety of recipes, including desserts, sauces, and spreads.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like illipe?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
