So, what is جيلاتين?
Gelatin is a protein-rich ingredient derived from collagen found in the connective tissues of animals, such as cows and pigs. It is commonly used as a gelling agent in various foods, including desserts, marshmallows, and gummy candies. Gelatin is also used in some pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The production process involves boiling the collagen-containing parts of the animal to extract the gelatin, which is then purified and dried into a powder or sheets. While it is a popular ingredient, some people choose to avoid it due to dietary restrictions, such as veganism or kosher/halal diets.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
