So, what is kaliumiodat?
Kaliumiodat, also known as potassium iodate, is a white crystalline powder commonly used as a food additive to increase the iodine content of table salt. Iodine is an essential mineral required by the human body for the production of thyroid hormones, which regulate metabolism and growth. Kaliumiodat is also used in the manufacturing of disinfectants, photographic chemicals, and hair dyes. While it is generally considered safe when used in moderation, excessive consumption can lead to adverse effects such as thyroid dysfunction. Kaliumiodat is an important ingredient that helps ensure adequate iodine intake in populations where iodine deficiency is prevalent.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
