So, what is kapern?
Kapern, also known as caper berries, are the small, pea-sized fruit of the Capparis spinosa plant. They have a distinctive tangy, slightly bitter flavor that makes them a popular addition to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. Kapern are often pickled in brine or vinegar, which enhances their sharp taste and preserves their texture. They are commonly used as a garnish for salads, antipasti, and pasta dishes, and can also be chopped and added to sauces, dressings, and spreads. Not only do they add a burst of flavor to dishes, but kapern are also packed with antioxidants and other nutrients that make them a healthy choice.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
