So, what is kardemumma?

Kardemumma, also known as cardamom, is a highly aromatic spice native to India and Sri Lanka that has been used for centuries in both sweet and savory dishes. This unique ingredient has a warm, sweet, and slightly floral flavor that can be described as a cross between ginger and cinnamon. Kardemumma is commonly used in Scandinavian and Middle Eastern cuisine to flavor pastries, coffee, and curries, and is also used in Indian chai tea. It is available in both whole pod and ground form, with the former being the preferred choice for recipes that require its distinct aroma to infuse into the dish.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like kardemumma?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
