So, what is karminy?
Karminy is a food ingredient commonly used as a natural red coloring agent in many foods and beverages. It is derived from the cochineal insect, which feeds on certain cacti in Mexico and South America. To extract karminy, the insects are harvested, dried, and crushed into a fine powder. This powder is then processed to produce the bright red pigment that gives color to foods such as candy, yogurt, and fruit juices. Karminy is considered safe for consumption by regulatory bodies and has been used for centuries as a natural dye.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
