So, what is laktoz?

Lactose, also known as milk sugar, is a type of disaccharide that's naturally found in milk and dairy products. It's composed of glucose and galactose molecules joined together by a beta-1,4-glycosidic bond. Lactose plays a crucial role in the nutrition of young mammals, providing them with energy, as well as aiding in the absorption of calcium and other nutrients. However, some individuals may be lactose intolerant due to a deficiency in the enzyme lactase, which breaks down lactose in the small intestine. As such, lactose-free alternatives have become increasingly popular in recent years.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like laktoz?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
