So, what is macrogol?
Macrogol, also known as polyethylene glycol (PEG), is a water-soluble, odorless, and tasteless compound commonly used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food products. It has a high molecular weight, ranging from 200 to 35,000 daltons, and is derived from petroleum or natural gas. Macrogol functions as a thickener, binder, and lubricant, and is often used to improve the texture and consistency of food products such as ice cream, salad dressings, and baked goods. It is generally considered safe for use in food products, but excessive consumption may cause gastrointestinal discomfort.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
