So, what is magnesium hydroxide?
Magnesium hydroxide is a white, odorless powder that is commonly used as an antacid and laxative. It is formed when magnesium oxide reacts with water, producing a slightly alkaline solution. This ingredient is also known for its ability to neutralize stomach acid and relieve symptoms of acid reflux and indigestion. Magnesium hydroxide is sometimes used as a food additive, where it can act as a buffering agent or pH stabilizer. Due to its low solubility in water, it is often used as a suspension to ensure even distribution in products such as baked goods and sauces.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
