So, what is melinjo?
Melinjo, also known as Gnetum gnemon, is a tropical tree commonly found in Southeast Asia. Its seeds, which are about the size of a small almond, are a popular ingredient in Indonesian cuisine. The seeds are first boiled and then dried in the sun before being fried to produce a crispy and nutty flavor. Melinjo is also rich in nutrients such as protein, fiber, and antioxidants, making it a healthy addition to any meal. Its unique taste and texture make it a versatile ingredient that can be used in various dishes, from snacks to main courses.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
